I beg to disagree completely with Joseph Muscat of Ta’ Xbiex (August 23) that retired Judge Lino Farrugia Sacco was worthy of being a judge after escaping from his impeachment.

Muscat contradicted his own assessment when he said Farrugia Sacco was a lifelong promoter of amateur sport in this country. Lifelong? He was not appointed a magistrate or judge to promote amateur sport in Malta.

I ask, what used to happen to his cases in court when as magistrate, judge and concurrently President of the Malta Olympic Committee for many years, he was away from the country at numerous sporting events overseas?

Farrugia Sacco was appointed a full-time magistrate and judge, not a promoter of amateur sport.
