EU Minister Louis Grech lamented with the EU Commissioner responsible for migration that Malta expected more from the EU when dealing with irregular migration.

During a meeting with Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom in Valletta, Mr Grech said that in spite of the Commission's insistence for more solidarity, Malta was still expecting concrete action.

"It is about time that the common asylum policy is implemented so that we can see more direct action to help Malta," Mr Grech said.

Commissioner Malmstrom said she will be meeting the Maltese authorities to discuss how Malta could be helped more to deal with migration issues.

Ms Malmstrom will is also holding discussions with Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli and the European Asylum Support Office.
