Verona have announced the signing of veteran Argentinian forward Javier Saviola from Olympiakos. The terms of the deal were not announced by either club.
Saviola, 32, began his career at River Plate, where an impressive goalscoring record caught the attention of Barcelona.
He initially impressed, scoring 17 goals in his first season, but gradually slipped down the pecking order and was sent out on loan to Monaco and Sevilla, before signing for Barca’s bitter rivals Real Madrid in 2007.
That move never worked out, and he has since played for Benfica, Malaga and last season Olympiakos.
Saviola said on the Olympiakos website: “ I am grateful to the president and the club for the fact I was able to enjoy so many beautiful moments here at Olympiakos.”
