There were no major movements on the final day of transfers among the 12 BOV Premier League clubs yesterday with the only signings completed being those of foreign strikers who joined Birkirkara, Sliema Wanderers, Floriana and Żebbuġ Rangers.

Birkirkara continued to strengthen their forward line with the capture of Ukrainian Vyacheslav Shevchenko who put pen to paper on a two-year deal.

The 29-year-old Shevchenko enjoyed a positive spell in his country with PFC Oleksandria before moving to Uzbekistan in January where he played for Lokomotiv Tashkent.

At first, his transfer to the Stripes looked in danger of collapsing due to registration issues but all problems were sorted out and Birkirkara filed his registration papers in time, yesterday.

Shevchenko’s arrival comes two days after Birkirkara released goalkeeper Adrian Murcia Sanches.

The Spaniard joined the Stripes in July but failed to convince coach Paul Zammit who let the shot-stopper go.

Although the summer transfer window has now come to a close, Birkirkara are still in the market for out-of-contract players as Zammit looks to add his options ahead of what promises to be a demanding season.

Serbian forward Bojan Mamic has agreed to make a return to Premier League after reaching an agreement with newly-promoted Żebbuġ.

The towering forward has already played in Malta in 2011-12 for Mqabba where he managed to score 15 goals in 32 league appearances.

Rangers will expect Mamic to provide much-needed firepower to a team still without points after three successive defeats. They were left looking for a proven goalscorer after parting ways with Scot Craig Beattie who had only been at the club for a fortnight.

Sliema also added a new striker to their squad – Djumo Bocar.

The 20-year-old Portuguese was on the books of Inter in Serie A before spells at Uniao Madeira, in Portugal, and Romania’s Otelul Galati. He joins the Wanderers on loan for one season.

Another striker with Serie A experience who moved to the Maltese league this season is Amadou Samb.

The 26-year-old Senegalese will play for Floriana. He had spells with Monza and Chievo in the Italian league.

Last season, Samb played in Albania for KF Teuta.
