Diarra: QPR have signed former Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra from Lokomotiv Moscow. Diarra, who has played 28 times for France, joined Chelsea from Le Havre in 2005 before moving to Arsenal two years later where he lasted five months before Redknapp took him to Portsmouth. The 29-year-old later signed for Real and also played for Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala before joining Lokomotiv.

Fired: Jan de Jonge became the first managerial casualty of the new Dutch league season after being sacked yesterday by bottom placed Heracles Almelo. Heracles have lost their first four games, with the 3-1 defeat at newly promoted Excelsior Rotterdam on Saturday sealing De Jonge’s fate. The 51-year-old De Jonge took over at Heracles at the start of the last campaign on two-year contract. They finished 14th in the 18-team league in his first season in charge.

Adebayor: Emmanuel Adebayor has been recalled by Togo to play for the national team for the first time in some 18 months as they get their African Nations Cup qualifying campaign underway this week. The 30-year-old Tottenham Hotspur striker had refused call ups for last year’s World Cup qualifiers in the wake of a public spat with coach Didier Six following the 2013 African Nations Cup finals in South Africa.

Mitroglou: Fulham striker Konstantinos Mitroglou has rejoined Olympiakos on loan for the rest of the season. The Greece international, who will stay in Greece until June 30 2015, made just three appearances having signed for the Cottagers in January for a reported fee of £12.4m. The 26-year-old won five league titles during his previous spell with Olympiakos.

Sannino goes: Italian Beppe Sannino resigned as manager of Watford yesterday with the team lying second in the table after five matches of the season. The 57-year-old took the job in place of compatriot Gianfranco Zola eight months ago, leading Watford to the brink of the play-offs last season and winning four of their first five games in this year’s league campaign.

Salomon Kalou: Hertha Berlin have signed former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou on a three-year contract, the Bundesliga club said. The 29-year-old arrives for an undisclosed fee from Lille, with whom he had a contract until 2016, but had not played much recently. “After my time in England and France, I’m really excited about playing for Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga now,” said Kalou. He scored 30 goals in 67 games for Lille.
