Seven young dancers from Dance Academy recently returned from Prague with their ballet teacher Ingrid Desira Buttigieg. For a week, the group participated in the New Dance Prague Festival, where they presented two dances: a classical one and a lyrical modern performance, choreographed by Desira.

The students performed on three occasions to a vast audience on the stage of the city’s National Theatre. A further boost was given to the experience when they were awarded the Dancing Hand Prix.

Besides participating in the dance festival, the dancers had the opportunity to undertake workshops with professors from the State Dance Conservatory and Charles University Dance department.

The festival offered the students the chance to meet students from other countries, teaching them that dance has no boundaries and is a universal means of communication.

The workshops the students attended were in classical ballet, modern dance, hip-hop, pilates, pantomime and theatrical make-up.

All lessons were held in the beautiful halls of the Ensemble of the National Theatre Ballet, not far from Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and the Lesser Town.
