Auxiliary Bishop Charles Scicluna recently led the annual national pilgrimage organised by the Maltese Society for the Transportation of the Sick to Lourdes.

This year, 21 new members pledged their support and affiliation to the society, giving their utmost to the challenge of tending to the sick.

On arrival in Lourdes, the group celebrated Mass at Our Lady’s Grotto, where Mgr Scicluna led the congregation in prayer.

Accompanied by the society’s members and a number of volunteers, family members and fellow pilgrims, the sick and the needy participated in all the main celebrations, the international Mass, the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the Via Crucis, the aux flambeaux procession and bathing in the water of the spring.

Members of the Italian organisation Unitalsi, with whom the society is affiliated, lent a helping hand.
