Twenty youths with special needs and other disadvantaged people took part in Malta’s first ‘Paracamp’ camping holiday at Masġar Papa Gwanni XXIII, Għajnsielem, near Fort Chambrai.

The camp’s aim was to provide participants with the opportunity to experience camping and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle through sport and outdoor activities. The participants, who came from the Santa Marta day centre and the Arka Foundation, enjoyed taking part in fun games and educational activities at the camp.

During a visit, Gozo Minister Anton Refalo congratulated all involved and said he hoped similar camps would be held in the future.

The event was organised by Young Volunteers and supported by the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps and the European Union Programmes Agency Youth in Action programme.
