The Famous Grouse 40-year-old blended malt has secured another win, a gold at the International Spirits Challenge 2014 Design and Packaging Awards.

The award is the latest achievement for this rare blend after having scooped the highest accolade – the Trophy Award at the International Spirits Challenge 2013 for the Distillers Blended Malt category last July. It also clinched a gold award at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in the Deluxe Blend category.

The Famous Grouse was named Best Luxury Drinks Brand of the Year and won a trophy at Drinks International’s Travel Retail Awards 2013. It also won a gold award at the Spirits Masters Awards 2013.

Only 276 decanters of the blend were created and launched at the Travel Retail Awards in 2013 before becoming available to markets last November.

The elegantly designed decanter was created together with Scottish design team Timorous Beasties. Hand engraved with a bespoke design of the brand’s icon – the red grouse – nestled among beautifully detailed foliage, the decanter comes with a Scottish silver stopper and is cased in a luxury wooden gift box.

This is the third time The Famous Grouse has worked with Timorous Beasties, having commissioned a limited edition gift carton in 2009, followed by a limited edition gift tin in 2010 to mark 30 years as Scotland’s favourite whisky.
