Boxing: Kubrat Pulev has accused world heavyweight champion Vladimir Klitschko of feigning injury to avoid taking on the Bulgarian challenger in an IBF title bout in Hamburg next month. Klitschko postponed the fight saying he had torn bicep muscles. Earlier this week, the 38-year-old Ukrainian said the contest would now take place at the same venue on Nov. 15. “It’s complete nonsense,” Pulev said. “If it’s a slight injury, you know what medicine can do today. If it’s a serious injury he won’t recover before Nov. 15. It’s a fake injury.”

Cycling: Daryl Impey, the first African to ever wear the Tour de France yellow jersey, has been cleared of wrong-doing after failing a drugs test earlier this summer, his cycling team Orica-GreenEdge have announced. Impey was withdrawn from Orica’s team on the eve of this year’s Tour – opening the way for neo-pro Simon Yates to ride – after a positive test for the substance Probecenid was reported from a test undertaken at the South African Champion-ships in February. South African Impey took the yellow jersey from team-mate Simon Gerranson on stage six of last year’s Tour and wore it for two days until Chris Froome won stage eight to Ax 3 Domaines.

Golf: Having displayed mainly regal form on the PGA Tour in his last four starts, Rory McIlroy benefited from some presidential advice ahead of this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton, Massachusetts. Two days after finishing in a tie for 22nd at The Barclays in New Jersey, where his brilliant run of three successive wins came to an end, McIlroy enjoyed a lengthy lunch with former US President Bill Clinton in New York. “It was a cool afternoon,” McIlroy, 25, told reporters. “Any time you get a chance to spend some time with a person like that... the stories that he can tell and the life experiences that he’s had. He’s just a great man to listen to. He’s obviously a huge golf fan, so we talked a lot about golf.”
