A biennial collaborative agreement in the health sector has been signed between Malta and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The agreement allows for WHO to provide technical and financial help in implementing some of Malta's health policies.

WHO will help Malta complete the national food consumption survey, which will be used in the country’s efforts to address obesity.

Health Parliamentary Secretary Chris Fearne said the agreement will make Malta a leader in the WHO Small Countries project. This project aims to increase co-operation in the health sector between countries with a population of less than one million.

Dr Fearne also chaired a WHO session on climate change and health at WHO’s headquarters in Geneva.
