Drugs, including cocaine, heroin and cannabis, were found in stables in Marsa, the police said.

The drugs were discovered following weeks of surveillance after the police were tipped off that drugs could have been kept in stables in Triq Is-Serkin and Triq It-Tiġrija.

Drug Squad officers assisted by the district police and members of the Rapid Intervention Unit searched a number of stables yesterday.

The searches, the police said, yielded illegal substances suspected to be heroin, cocaine and cannabis resin that were packaged in such a way to suggest they were ready to be trafficked.

A number of people were arrested.
