An earth tremor was felt in parts of Malta just before 6am today.
A reader in Sliema said it lasted a few seconds, and was not very strong.
A reader from Birkirkara estimated the tremor lasted five seconds.
A Zabbar resident said that it was quite strong there.
A reader from Qawra said the tremor struck at 5.50. and it was 'very strong'
"A bottle fell off my desk and birds went berserk."
Other readers reported feeling the tremor in Ghaxaq, Swater, Kalkara, Zejtun, Tarxien, Gharghur, St Paul's Bay and Mellieha.
It is believed to have been a consequence of a 5.6 magnitude earthquake which rattled Southern Greece at the same time.
The US Geological Survey said the earthquake struck at sea 80 miles south of the Greek capital. It was 70 miles deep.
There were no immediate reports of casualties in the quake which struck north of Crete.
