Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt arrived in Malta yesterday afternoon for the shooting of their film By the Sea.

They flew in on a private aircraft from Nice, where they were on holiday, and were immediately taken to Gozo where the filming will take place at Mġarr ix-Xini.

The small bay and a large area of the surrounding countryside have been closed off till early November and a film set has been built.

By the Sea has been written by Jolie, who will also direct the Universal Pictures film.

This will be the first time that Jolie and Pitt will appear on screen together since the 2005 film Mr and Mrs Smith, which marked the beginning of their relationship.
