Floriana parish church has embarked on a project for the painting of the ceiling of its side chapels.

A crane was driven to the church this morning to help raise beams for scaffolding to be used for the project.

The work has been entrusted to Gozitan artist John Grima, who will paint scenes of the patron saint, St Publius during the conversion of the Maltese islands to Christianity.

The church, which was badly damaged during the war, already features works by Filippo Pace, Giuseppe Cali', Envin Cremona and Paul Camilleri.
