Daredevils took up the ġostra challenge in St Julian’s yesterday, running up a grease-covered pole, ahead of next Sunday’s feast of the patron saint. The ġostra is a game stretching back to the Middle Ages during which young men, women and children run to the top and try to uproot one of the flags tied to the pole to win prizes.
