A painting of St Clare by artist Paul Camilleri Cauchi, commissioned by a benefactor, in honour of their foundress, was unveiled and blessed following a Mass led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech. St Clare is portrayed gazing with tender love upon a monstrance containing her beloved spouse, Jesus Christ. An interesting detail is the Gozo cathedral in the painting’s bottom right hand corner, signifying the Poor Clares’ bond with the Gozo diocese. The Mass was attended by the Franciscan friars, friends and benefactors of the small community. Photo shows the Gozo community and their chaplain Fr Chris Farrugia, with sisters from the Malta community and Mr Camilleri Cauchi (back row, third from right).
