Rapper and hip-hop artist Hooligan will be taking the stage with Lapes in a face-off event, Botta u Risposta, that will see the two rappers engaging in a battle of the wits KoTD style.

The MC battle, which is hosted by Nitrox and D Legacy from Zulu Nation Malta, brings together two artists whose styles are considerably different from each other. The event, in fact, aims to bring difference facets of hip hop culture under one roof.

Hooligan is part of the old-school guard, while Lapes, who is also part of No Bling Show and Marmalja, is part of an up-and-coming generation of hip hop artists.

During the evening the artists will be rapping opposite each other in the style made famous by Eminem in the film 8 Mile and more recently by the KoTD battle raps, as they fling out continuous rhymes at each other in quick succession.

The first four rounds will give each artist one minute a capella, with beats being introduced in the fifth and final round. In case of a tie, an extra round will be added. There will be a panel of four judges made up of MCs, DJs and breakdancers.

The evening will also include breakdance competitions between Tinu White and Ritmo Roc from the crew Maltese Knights and between Hazy and Paqxa from the Street Elements crew and a beatbox battle. DJ El Jako will be spinning some tunes before and after the competitions and there will also be a guest performance by Rumbull.

Botta u Risposta is being organised by Min Ma Jiġix Promoxins in collaboration with Zulu Nation Malta and O.T.H. and takes place on Saturday from 10pm at The Black Pearl, Ta’ Xbiex.
