So, now we have another objector to the ringing of bells in our towns and villages. This time it also includes Marian tunes, which John Guillaumier finds so irritating apart from everything else (‘Mindless bell-ringing’, August 11).

As a regular contributor to Times of Malta when the subject touches anything that is religious, Guillaumier jumps at every opportunity to show us where his sentiments lie. I have no interest to know where he lives but I imagine that St Julian’s is the noisiest of tourist hubs, with next-door neighbour Paceville on the go 24 hours a day.

Has Guillaumier ever passed a remark about the din that residents do complain about from time to time?

Henry Galea (the other objector) seems to have taken my advice and is now sporting his ear plugs, happily enjoying his peaceful living away from atrocious din of our bells.
