Premier League sides Floriana and Mosta continued to strengthen their squads this week after bringing in new foreign imports.

Floriana have reached an agreement to sign Italian goalkeeper Valerio Senatore.

The Greens needed cover in their goalkeeping department following the departure of Sean Mintoff who was released by the club earlier this week.

Senatore, who last season was on the books of FC Fondi in Serie D, has put pen to paper on a one-year deal and will challenge Andrew Zammit for the no.1 jersey.

Floriana coach Giovanni Tedesco has also brought in a defensive reinforcement with the signing of Brazilian defender Douglas Cobo.

The 27-year-old, who last season played in Thailand, will be a welcome addition for the Greens who are looking to bounce back from a lacklustre performance and a 3-0 defeat to Hibernians in the Premier League last weekend.

Senatore and Cobo are expected to make their official debuts tomorrow when Floriana face Old Firm rivals Sliema Wanderers at the National Stadium.

Mosta, buoyed by their opening day victory over champions Valletta, have also increased the options of coach Enrico Piccioni with the acquisition of Mexican goalkeeper Marcos Bernal Berlanga and Fabio Paim, a Portuguese winger.

Berlanga impressed the Mosta officials during a short training camp and will offer competition to goalkeeper Omar Borg who produced a man-of-the-match performance and also stopped a penalty in his team’s 1-0 victory over Valletta.

Paim has an attractive CV as after playing for Sporting Lisbon he enjoyed a spell with Londoners Chelsea.

Paim, 26, and Berlanga, 21, both signed two-year contracts and could feature for the Blues against Pietà Hotspurs on Sunday.
