Jonathan Pace, owner of Tyson Butcher, was shot dead in Fgura this evening, less than two weeks after he was granted bail after being accused of attempted murder.

He was shot in the back and the head at about 9.15 p.m.

Mr Pace was on a first floor balcony at the time and the shots were fired from outside. The balcony door was shattered.

He died in hospital.

A boy and a woman were seen crying Miet id-Daddy (Dad has died) as his death became known.

Mr Pace, 31, from Gudja, was facing court proceedings where he was pleading not guilty to trying to kill 52-year-old Vince Muscat, known as il-Koħħu, firing a gun in an inhabited area, causing damage and not having a licence.

Mr Muscat had been shot outside his house in Msida.

A man who was close to the scene of this evening's shooting was hospitalised suffering from shock.
