The Egyptian master of the Maltese-registered trawler Golden Dawn was taken to court today and accused of entering harbour without prior notice and not keeping the vessel in a seaworthy condition.

Ahmed Maylou was also accused of not having the required navigational charts or documents on his ship, not having a log book, being unable to communicate in English as a ship's master, not having an oil record book and a garbage discharge book. Bail was granted against a deposit of €5,000 and a personal guarantee of €20,000.
