ABELA. On August 14, at his residence in Tarxien, FRANK, at the age of 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he leaves to mourn his loss his wife Rita, née Sciberras, his children Josephine and her husband Charles, Thomas and his wife Antoinette, Mary Rose, widow of Charles, Lora and her husband Gaetano and Tessie and her husband Marcel, his grandchildren Daniela, Vanessa and her husband Stanley, Roberto and Claudette, Gianfranco, Annelise, Janett and her husband David, Emiliano and Stefania, Rebecca and her husband Mark and Sarah and her husband Keith, brothers and sisters, his great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow for St Anne’s parish church, Marsascala, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be appreciated. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

BONELLO. On August 18, EMIDIO, at the age of 76, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. A wonderful husband, father and grandfather, he is sadly missed by his beloved wife Maria, née Micallef, his daughters Rosette and her husband Charles Farrugia, Lucienne and her husband Dr Evan Camilleri, and Marisa and her husband Christopher Cini, his grandchildren Andre’, Daniel, Gabriele, Mikela and Francesco, his brothers Salvatore and Fr Dominic Bonello, OFM Conv., his sister Annunziata Mamo, his brother-in-law Paul Bilocca, his sister-in-law Rose Micallef, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Saturday, August 23 at 8.30am for the Annunciation parish church, Tarxien, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment in the family grave at Tarxien cemetery. BUHAGIAR. On August 13, Fr TONY BUHAGIAR, OSA, of Qormi, aged 62, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brothers Fr John Buhagiar, OSA, Frans and his wife Doris and Joe and his wife Polly, his sister Carmen and her husband Fredu, nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends from Malta, Varese, Latina, Terracina and all the parish community of Borgo Hermada, amongst them the Augustinian Fathers of Malta and Italy, the Diocesan Clergy of Żabbar, Terracina and Borgo Hermada, Italy. Fr Tony will be lying in state at the old church of St Sebastian, Qormi, on Friday, August 22 from 7.30 to 8.15am. Afterwards, a funeral cortège leaves the old church of St Sebastian for St Sebastian parish church, Qormi, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Secretary of the Augustinian Missions, Paceville, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CARUANA MONTALDO. On August 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY, aged 91, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sister Antoinette Spiteri, her brother Oscar and his wife Rosa, her sister-in-law Nuala, her many nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.30am for St Julians parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Maltese Jesuit Province, Naxxar, will be appreciated. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.

FABRI. On August 17, at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, England, CHRISTINE, née Lanfranco, passed away after a short illness comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Alfred, her son Simon and his wife Rosa Eva, her daughter Angela and her husband Simon Montanaro and her beloved grandchildren David, Emma and Nick. She also leaves to mourn her loss her brother Francis Lanfranco and his wife Claire, her brother Peter Lanfranco, her sister Berta and her husband Michael Fenech, her brother-in-law George Fabri and his wife Josette, her brother-in-law David Fabri and other relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

SCERRI. On August 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOHN of Paola, residing in Marsascala, aged 66, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Dorothy, his daughters Sharon and Melanie, his grandchildren Gary, Amy, Lennon, and Kyra, his brothers and sisters Alfred, Salv, Joe, M’Anne, in-laws and their respective families, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Friday, August 22 at 7.45am for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares Children’s Cancer Support Group, Rainbow Ward, Mater Dei Hospital, or to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. STAINES. On August 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, MURIEL, passed away peacefully, aged 90, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She is deeply mourned by her brothers Bobby and Patrick, her sisters Geraldine and Margaret, her in-laws Liliana and Marcello, her nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema tomorrow at 9.30am. Interment will follow in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. May God, in his infinite mercy, grant her eternal rest.

VASSALLO. On August 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, THERESA, aged 87, of St Julian’s, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her son Charles and his wife Marcette, her other son Anthony, her daughters Maria and her husband Alan Formosa, Monica and her husband Michael Calleja, her granddaughters Audrey, Fiona-Sarah, Faye and Paula, her brother and sisters and their families, other relatives and friends. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother George and his wife Eileen, her sister-in-law Evelina widow of Joseph Victor Zammit Maempel, her nephews and neices Joseph Henry Saydon, Elia Craig, Joseph and Frederick Zammit Maempel, Carmen Cassar, Marisa Gatt, Joseph Philip and Rita Testaferrata Bonici, Marie Bianchi, Anna Borg Cardona, Ivan, Joseph and Mark Zammit Maempel, Cynthia and Edward Zammit Maempel, other relatives and friends.
