A man who took his pregnant wife to hospital for a scheduled medical check-up, punched a security guard who told him to move his car because it was parked illegally, a court heard.

The incident happened at 9.30am today.

The court heard that Josef Friggieri, 30, of Birzebbuga parked his car in front of an electrical fire panel.

Raymond Leonardi, a security guard, told him to move it.

An argument followed and Mr Leonardi was punched in the face by Mr Friggieri.

In court, Mr Friggieri claimed that Mr Leonardi was aggressive and confrontational with him, but he admitted punching him.

Magistrate Josette Demicoli conditionally discharged Mr Friggieri for three years.
