A monument to former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff has been completed and will be unveiled in Cospicua on December 11, the Labour Party said.

Cospicua was Mr Mintoff’s political stronghold, and December 11 was chosen for the inauguration because it is close to Republic Day, the party said.

Mr Mintoff passed away two years ago.

The monument will be set up in Paolino Vassallo Square.

Etched in stone that looks similar to Maltese limestone, the monument was designed by Noel Galea Bason whose design was chosen from a total of 17 designs submitted in a Labour Party contest.
