First of all I should say that the private company looking after the roundabouts on Gozo and Malta is doing an excellent job and some of them are a joy to circumvent. However, a few of them are downright dangerous because of the trees that are planted in and around them, restricting the view of drivers approaching them.

The worst one is the roundabout in Għajnsielem at the top of the hill coming up from Mġarr harbour. Drivers approach this roundabout at a lower angle and there are trees planted on the boulevard before one reaches it, cutting off the view.

One cannot see easily, because of the trees, an approaching car on the right attempting to exit to Fort Chambray until one has reached the edge of the roundabout.

Motorcycles and scooters are particularly well concealed and there have been accidents here as cars rush up the hill after leaving the ferry. Just a couple of weeks ago a postman on his motorbike was hit, throwing him and the mail onto the road.

God knows Malta needs more trees but in this case, unfortunately, they are a severe hindrance.
