The General Workers’ Union has registered an industrial dispute with the consumer authority over its failure to grant it recognition.

In a statement, the union said it enjoyed the support of the majority of employees at the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority, including those at the professional and technical levels.

The authority failed to reply to the union’s request for recognition, which was filed in May.

It said this matter was causing uncertainty and anxiety for employees and called on Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli, who is responsible for the authority, to intervene.
