I noted that the autumn hunting season starts on September 1 this year. I did a little checking and note that sunrise on September 1 is at 6.34am and sunset is at 7.30pm, leaving our hunters with almost 13 hours of daylight to enjoy their age-old honourable pastime.

But on reading on I noted that if they are not totally tired out and exhausted with 13 hours beating through scrub and bush they can also have four hours of hunting in the darkness. What a good idea really as 17 hours intensive hunting is bound to exhaust the most ardent of fan of that noble sport.

I reserve my greatest praise for the person who thought of the poor frustrated hunters who might not be satisfied with the day’s hunting and allowed them to hunt away to their heart’s content in the dark. Ah! the human mind is full of ingenuity.
