Moreno: Liverpool have completed the signing of Sevilla defender Alberto Moreno. The 22-year-old left-back becomes the eighth signing of Brendan Rodgers’s summer after completing a medical at the club’s Melwood training ground, yesterday. But Moreno was not registered in time to figure in his new side’s league opener against Southampton today.

De Jong: Summer signing Siem de Jong will be denied a competitive debut for Newcastle against Manchester City today by injury. The Dutchman has failed to recover from the foot problem he picked up during pre-season, and will be joined on the sidelines by fellow midfielder Cheick Tiote.

Boerrigter: Celtic wide-man Derk Boerrigter faces a two-game ban after being issued with a notice of complaint by the Scottish FA for alleged simulation. The Dutchman went to ground inside the box during the Scottish Premiership clash with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Wednesday night as he was challenged by Dave Mackay. The Saints captain was sent off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity with Nir Biton scoring from the spot for the visitors’ second goal in the 3-0 win.

Sanchez: Aston Villa have announced the signing of Colombia defensive midfielder Carlos Sanchez from Elche. Sanchez has joined, subject to international clearance, for an undisclosed fee on a four-year deal. The 28-year-old, nicknamed “The Rock”, played for his country at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Moses: Victor Moses joined Stoke City on a season-long loan from Chelsea. The 23-year-old former Crystal Palace and Wigan Athletic player, who was on loan at Liverpool last season, is Stoke’s sixth new recruit of the summer. Moses, a Nigeria international, played no part in Stoke’s season opener against Aston Villa yesterday.

Kazim-Richards: Feyenoord have signed English-born Turkey forward Colin-Kazim Richards on loan from Bursaspor. The deal includes an option to make the loan a permanent transfer at the end of the season. The 27-year-old has won 35 caps for Turkey.
