A 23-year-old man is in critical condition after a crash early this morning in Naxxar.
The police said three other people were injured in the incident in the Naxxar/Gharghur bypass at about 1.30am.
The head-on crash involved a Toyota Townace, a Mitsubishi Pajero. A Mini was also damaged.
The critically injured man was driving the Toyota, which was extensively damaged by the force of impact. He was accompanied by a 16-year-old passenger.
The Pajero, which ended up on the wrong side of the road, was being driven by a 19-year-old from Naxxar, who was grievously injured.
The Mini One was being driven by a 55-year-old woman from St Julian's.
All persons were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for medical treatment. The Toyota passenger and the Mini driver were slightly injured.
FIVE HOSPITALISED AFTER L-AHRAX CRASH
Meanwhile, five persons were hospitalised yesterday evening after they were involved in a traffic accident near L-Ahrax tal-Mellieha.
The police said the incident involved a collision between a Ssang Yong driven by a 36-year-old man residing in Zebbug and a Peugeot 106 driven by a 19-year-old teenager residing in Fgura.
In the Peugeot there were three passengers - an 18-year-old and a 15-year-old both of Naxxar and a 17-year-old of St Paul’s Bay - whilst in the Ssang Yong there were two passengers - a 33-year-old man from Msida and a 37-year-old man of Zabbar.
