A man caught with 30 grams of cocaine in his car was yesterday charged with trafficking, though he insists it was for his own personal use.

Renald Attard, 29, from Luqa pleaded not guilty to trafficking cocaine and being in possession of the drug and cannabis.

Police Inspector Herman Mula said the accused was arrested on Wednesday when he was carrying 30 grams of cocaine and weighing scales, as well as cannabis.

Defence lawyer Steve Tonna Lowell said the drugs found were for Mr Attard’s personal use.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000 and a deposit of €500.
