I refer to the report titled ‘Arch enemy councils agree on project name’ (August 5).

The report says that the Birkirkara and Santa Venera local councils have finally agreed on a name. It also quotes the name: ‘Aqueduct’s Arch’ (L-Ark tal-Akwidott).

This is incorrect because, so far, no agreement has been reached between the two local councils involved. I’m more than positive that an agreement could be reached, however, only if there is goodwill. History can never be replaced or overwritten and, thus, I hope that common sense will prevail on this long-outstanding issue.

May I point out that the roundabout in question is within the confines of Santa Venera and not in Fleur-de-Lys as mentioned.

It is very important to mention the fact that, of the €200,000 mentioned, €116,469 were promised by a commercial bank and this thanks to the agreement that was sought only through the local council of Santa Venera because, at that point in time, the bank in question was building their head offices in Santa Venera. To compensate the residential area for the inconveniences sought, it was agreed that these funds would be put under a guarantee in favour of Mepa until a historical project materialises.
