Hundreds of Filipino nationals have boarded a ship in Benghazi for evacuation to Malta.

Boarding started today after the ship was delayed because the harbour was closed yesterday.

The mass evacuation was organized by the Philippine government and assisted by the Libyan Red Crescent. The ship is bound for Misrata before heading for Malta on Friday.

The workers will be immediately flown to Manila.
