The Yazidi being persecuted in Iraq are often mistakenly called devil worshippers. This is complete nonsense.

They believe in the one true God, who created the universe and then placed it in the hands of seven angels headed by the Archangel Melek Taus who is often depicted as a peacock.

The Archangel has both a good side and a bad side to him, rather like most of us.

He fell out with the creator but then made his peace with him.

Some early oriental writers called Melek “Shaytan”, the same word used in the Koran for Satan, hence their undeserved reputation as devil-worshippers!

They do have some rather strange customs, like not wearing blue and not eating lettuce, but they are not devil-worshippers as we in the West understand that concept.

They certainly do not deserve to be slaughtered in the name of the one true merciful God the Muslims keep telling us all they believe in.
