Bayern Munich coach Pep Guar-diola has distanced himself from rumours linking his club with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus ahead of today’s German Super Cup meeting between the two sides.

Bayern have already signed Mario Goetze and Robert Lewan-dowski from the Westphalians in the past two seasons and they have been strongly linked with a move for Reus, who is reported to have a release clause in his Dortmund contract, which can be activated next summer.

“He’s a Dortmund player and we have eight forwards anyway,” Guardiola said at a press conference yesterday, before exclaiming again “eight forwards!”

Guardiola also confirmed that Manuel Neuer and Tom Starke will be the two goalkeepers he takes to Dortmund with new ar-rival Pepe Reina staying behind.

Dortmund won the Super Cup 4-2 last season, although the two more important trophies – the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal – both went to Bavaria.

A repeat of last summer’s win would nevertheless be welcomed by Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp, who is looking forward to “measuring ourselves at the very highest level with one of the best teams in the world.”

That team has been strengthened by the addition of Lewan-dowski, whose loss is likely to have weakened Dortmund, but Klopp says he will shake the Pole’s hand today.

“We’re looking forward to seeing him,” Klopp said.

“Even if he’s wearing a different shirt, he’s still a great lad.”

Adrian Ramos and Ciro Immobile have been signed to replace the Pole, who was the Bundesliga’s top-scorer last season.
