For the fourth consecutive year, the 10km Night Run, organised by Żurrieq Wolves Athletics Club and sponsored for the first time by Bajada New Energy, was a successful event featuring the participation of 110 athletes.

The race was held last Friday along Mdina Road, Żebbuġ.

Andrew Grech, of Mellieħa AC, won the men’s race in 32mins 53secs, improving the record he set last year.

Brian Magri, of Athleta Pembroke, came in second with Charles Micallef, of Żurrieq Wolves, third.

In the female category, Joanne Attard Pulis, of Starmax, crossed the line first in 41mins 08secs.

She was followed by Żurrieq Wolves member Doreen Camilleri and Katarina Pahlob, from Serbian club ARK Fruska Gora.

Trophies were also given to the top athletes in each age category. The winners were:

Men: Stefano Pace Parascandalo (Żurrieq Wolves) Under 18; Matthew Mirabelli (Team Fabio) Over 35; John Rapinett (Mellieħa) Over 40; Jesmond Pace Over 45; Abraham Zammit (St Patrick’s) Over 50; Mario Farrugia Over 55; Frank Tabone Over 60.

Women: Angelina Ruggier Under 18; Bridgette Falzon Over 35; Anna Bugeja Over 55.

Wilfred Sammut, president of Żurrieq Wolves, and Robert Farrugia, representing Bajada New Energy Group, presented the trophies to the winners.
