I was really shocked and disgusted when I read that the PN had approached Franco Debono and asked him to pay his membership fee. It was an insult to the thousands of faithful supporters who remained loyal to the party even during the frightful 16 years of terror under Dom Mintoff and Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici.

It was an insult to the thousands of faithful PN supporters who were not afraid to stand up and be counted at a time when even celebrating Malta’s independence was full of risks.

It was an insult to Lawrence Gonzi who only God knows what he suffered during the last legislature when he had to face the antics of this person.

Several days have passed since we read about these contacts and, so far, the PN has not explained its position. I wish I could return my membership card to the party, but I cannot do it.
