The Westin Dragonara was voted Malta’s Leading Resort 2014 at the World Travel Awards in Greece.

General manager Michael C. Kamsky said: “We are delighted to have received this award which we achieved as a result of the hard work and dedication of all the hotel’s staff – for this I would like to express my gratitude.”

The annual ceremony was established in 1993 to recognise the best of Europe’s travel industry.

This year’s event was held in Athens following votes from 230,000 global travel tourism and hospitality professionals.

For the fourth time in a row, Lufthansa was voted Europe’s Leading Airline at the ceremony, beating nine competitors to the top spot.

The German airline also won the Europe’s Leading Airline Lounge – receiving medals for its first class terminal and Frankfurt airport lounges.

Chief commercial officer Jens Bischof said: “For our crews on board and our teams on the ground this award is an incredible acknowledgement.

“We won’t rest on our laurels, but gather even more fans for our brand.”
