The Capo Touch app has been around for a while on Mac and we have enjoyed using it for most of that time. Now in its third version, the app is set to become yet more popular, especially with those interested in learning guitar or improving their repertoire.

The Capo Touch app is a mobile version for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It’s an excellent music app that will resonate well with anyone trying to learn guitar. Created by the appropriately named SuperMegaUltraGroovy Inc., Capo Touch can accurately detect a chord, beat and pitch and transcribe chords played to it from a track on iTunes.

Once it has detected the chord, the app can display that chord and the finger positions needed to replicate it on screen. It can do this in real time or take a track, analyse it, play it, slow it down and show you the chords being played so that you can play along and learn the song.

Chord boxes appear underneath the sound bite on screen so you can follow the music. You can change the speed without affecting pitch too. The app also has a metronome to help maintain beat, a loop function to master the track, a graphical equalizer and a tool to remove vocals. You can even change the key being played if you don’t think it sounds right.

Capo Touch simplifies complex compositions so anyone can follow them. It doesn’t matter whether you’re an established musician or an amateur, Capo Touch is a worthwhile investment if you want to improve your guitar skills.
