Two women who are facing separate charges following an argument on Wednesday during which one of them was stabbed were today granted bail after both pleaded not guilty.

The women, both from Qormi, lived in the same block of apartments on the same floor.

Ramona Magri, 31, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Wendy Gauci, 24, seriously injuring her, being in the illegal possession of a knife, driving dangerously and breaching the peace.

Ms Gauci pleaded not guilty to causing more than €1,000 worth of damage to property belonging to Ms Magri, breaching the peace, assault and driving dangerously.

During the argument, Ms Magri stabbed Ms Gauci in her hand which the latter had placed in front of her stomach to protect it.

Ms Gauci was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000, Ms Magri against a personal guarantee of €3,000.

Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared for Ms Magri and lawyer Arthur Azzopardi appeared for Ms Gauci.
