The Economic Affairs Ministry said today it was closely monitoring the situation involving Maltese businesses in Libya and would announce measures to help them.

"The Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business is in direct contact with constituted bodies including the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, GRTU, the Libyan-Maltese Chamber of Commerce, and the Malta Employers’ Association (MEA) and has already started discussing ways of supporting these businesses.

"In the coming days the Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business will be announcing specific measures by means of which the Government can further assist Maltese businesses in Libya.

"The government’s main aim is that of protecting jobs and businesses," the ministry said.
