There is no ferry service from Malta to the mainland except for the horrendously-priced Virtu Ferries to Sicily, which has a monopoly.

Has nobody in this country understood yet that not everybody wants to travel by plane while others, for various reasons, cannot do so?

It is bad, even stupid, for an island not to provide an alternative ferry service during the summer months at least. Have those in charge ever thought of the number of people who just forget about Malta simply because they cannot come by car? Has it even crossed their minds that people who travel by car tend to spend more here since they can take back much more than on a plane?

The cherry on the cake, though, is that Transport Malta give you wrong information because they still think that cargo ships take people on board as well, which is not the case.

In 2018, Valletta is going to be cultural capital, yet will it provide a bigger variety of means of access?
