Mount Sinai hospital in Manhattan says it's quarantined a patient for possible Ebola symptoms.

Officials there say the man, who had recently been to West Africa where Ebola is spreading, arrived at their emergency room in the early morning hours yesterday.

He was showing signs of high fever and stomach ache -- the tell-tale signs of the deadly disease.

Within seven minutes, officials say, the patient was isolated and put on observation.

"Odd are this is not Ebola. It's much more likely that it's a much more common condition," a hospital spokesman said.

Samples from the patient were sent to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.

Meanwhile, health officials told the public there was no need to worry and they did not believe anyone was put at risk for contracting the disease.

Earlier in the day, the White House said there were no plans for the US to ban incoming flights from western Africa nations.

Two American aid workers are being treated for Ebola in Atlanta after catching the virus in Liberia.

The virus has killed some 900 people in Africa since February and is the worst Ebola outbreak in history.
