This year’s edition of the airX Malta International Airshow will see a record number of participating aircraft and several aerobatic groups, including the famed Red Arrows and Frecce Tricoli.

The show will be held on September 27-28.

Among the expected participants will be the Red Arrows of the Royal Air Force and the Frecce Tricolori of the Italian Air Force, the Turkish Stars aerobatic group and C-1-1 Aviojet aerobatic aircraft of the Spanish Air Force.

Other participants will include a rare L-159 Alca fighter aircraft of the Czech Air Force.

A Phantom aircraft will be returning to Malta in the colours of the Greek Air Force.

The show will also see the return of Tornado, Orion and Dornier Do 228 aircraft of the German Air Force, a Nato Awacs early warning aircraft and a variety of other aircraft including F-18s of the Swiss Air Force.

Joe Ciliberti, president of the Malta Aviation Society said a two-tier ticket pricing structure is also being launched for the first time this year aimed at attracting a higher number of people to visit show on Saturday. Entrance tickets for Saturday’s event are priced at €13 each while the Sunday tickets are priced at €15 each. Children under 14 enjoy free admission when accompanied by an adult.

The main sponsor for the show, for the second year running is airX, a private air charter company providing luxury private charter flights. The company established its operations in Malta in early 2013 and now employs over 60 personnel in Malta and abroad.
