Around 500,000 Roma and Sinti were killed during the Holocaust. The Roma genocide, also known in Romani as Porajamos (devouring) was practically forgotten after 1945.

A movement has been formed to establish August 2 as the official remembrance day of this genocide. Let us not allow these atrocities to be erased from history.

I appeal to our MEPs is raise this matter with the European Commission in order to make August 2 the official remembrance day of the Roma and Sinti genocide.
