The house where Fr Ġużepp Cauchi was born, lived and died will be open for visitors during the feast of San Lawrenz next weekend.

Cauchi was a humble and deeply spiritual village priest who suffered the humiliation of not being allowed to preach or hear confessions for an indefinite period of time.

He was also prevented from saying Mass for some time.

Despite this, Cauchi held no grudges against those who had wronged him or against God. Rather, he spent long periods of time in prayer, fasting and self-mortification. He was regarded by many as a saint. He died on August 13, 1955.

Exhibited in the house, located just before reaching the parish square, are the clothes and objects belonging to Cauchi, including books and religious documents.

There are also various ex voto objects donated people for graces believed to have been obtained through Cauchi’s intercession.

It will be open on Friday and Saturday from 9pm to midnight and next Sunday from 6pm to midnight. Admission is free. To visit it on other days call 2155 4181 or 2156 0072.
