Juventus have signed midfielder Romulo Souza Orestes on loan from Verona with an option to buy.

Juve will pay one million euros to loan the Brazilian-born Italian, with the option to buy worth six million euros, the defending Serie A champions said on their website yesterday.

The option is automatically exercised if Romulo plays in at least 60 per cent of Juve’s official matches this coming season.

Juve become the ninth club on the resumè of Romulo, who played for six different sides in Brazil before moving to Fiorentina from Cruzeiro in 2012.

He was loaned to Verona before making the move official last month but has now moved on again, given the opportunity to play in the Champions League with Juve.

The transfer was completed in time for the 27-year-old to travel with Juve for their pre-season tour of Asia, which begins tomorrow.

Romulo impressed last season, when in a co-ownership deal with Fiorentina, scoring six goals in 32 Serie A games.

He was called up by Italy for the World Cup in Brazil, but pulled out due to injury.

Romulo said he was delighted to have joined the Italian champions.

“I knew of interest from Juventus and that made me happy,” he told reporters.

“I am satisfied, as it’s another step in my continuing journey that I started in Italy three years ago. I also thank Fiorentina for the opportunity they gave me. I want to give my all for the city and the club.

“I grew up in a poor family, but with good values. Today is a dream come true. I made so many sacrifices to get here and now I’ll fight even harder to stay.

“I met coach Allegri and he asked me where I preferred to play. I said I was ready to take any role on the right flank.”

Meanwhile, it was also revealed that Juve wing-back Mauricio Isla has agreed terms with QPR and will be in London for a medical today.

“Tomorrow (today) Isla will have his medical in England, as a deal has been reached with QPR,” announced the Turin club director Beppe Marotta.

The Chile international was a regular at the World Cup in Brazil last month but failed to break into the Juve starting formation for most of the season.

Romulo’s arrival from Verona effectively pushed Isla out of the Juve squad forcing him to seek pastures new.

Isla, 26, is expected to join QPR on loan with an option to buy for €10 million.
