Interviews of people talking about their careers, talents and social life are being featured on The Zone at www.timesofmalta.com/thezone.

Tomorrow, a new interview will be uploaded with David Chircop, a board and digital games designer and creator, held in collaboration with the University magazine Think.

Chircop has a diverse background. He is a specialist in podiatry, has a master’s degree in digital games and extensive experience as a theatre actor and director. But his love for board games has taken over in recent years as his fascination with the way games are created has led him to experiment in creating board and video games. One of his board games is so popular with the online community that loves playing board games that it won him an award and popularity among players from all over the world.

Chircop is now looking at a publishing deal thanks to his board game, which he says he created with a friend in 48 hours. With his popular board game ready for official release and a few video games he has designed, Chircop has founded a small indie studio, through which he plans to create more games and do academic research on the shift in player experience when a board game is implemented as a digital one. Watch the interview with Chircop this week on The Zone.
