Pupils at Kalkara primary school learnt English through drama when they attended a Helen O’Grady Academy developmental programme designed to tap children’s creativity and build on their social skills.
The programme, which covered speech and articulation in English, encouraged them to ask questions, seek answers and share information with others, boosting the children’s confidence in all aspects of their lives.
Academy principal Alan Montanaro said: “We strive to eliminate the crippling fear of making mistakes. Our systems give children a sense of creativity and allows them to absorb, repeat and create without fear of ridicule. After all, lessons learned through fun are never forgotten.”
The programme was sponsored by the Vodafone Malta Foundation, whose chairperson Gemma Mifsud Bonnici said: “There is nothing better than to see children learn lessons for life through a progressive and rich syllabus that also doubles up as fun and leaves you with a lasting sense of achievement.”
