Raging Waters is ready to rock the Maltese metal scene, merging hard hitting riffs and heavy drum lines with a relaxing day by the pool. Fans of metal music are expected to gather to experience an eclectic line-up featuring six top bands ready to shred their way through the day.

Included on the line-up are local death metal giants Abysmal Torment, thrash metal mavericks War Trigger, the experienced and highly-respected Norm Rejection, rockers It Came From the Desert and up-and-coming bands Hex Omega and Relicuia.

The event kicks off early afternoon, with comedian Malcolm Alden.

It is organised by James Horton, a familiar face on the metal scene, who said: “My ambition for this event is to bring the scene out of the darkness and into the light.”

A former member of several bands, including the now defunct thrash metal group, Thrashacre, Horton has always been at the forefront to strengthen the local metal movement. The festival, he hopes, will go some way towards quenching fans’ thirst for more.

Groups with contrasting styles will be performing

By organising a mainstream event, Horton hopes to bridge the gap between the regulars at metal events and fans on the fringes of the scene.

Besides aiming for quality in his selected bands, Horton also chose contrasting styles, hoping to expose fans of one subgenre to another.

A lifelong fan, an organiser and a performer, Horton is no stranger to producing magic on stage with a guitar, often side-by-side with his partner, lead singer and keyboardist of Hex Omega, Mikaela. Hex Omega’s blend of classical piano with heavy riffs will certainly add a refreshing change of style and pace at Raging Waters.

Raging Waters takes place on Saturday at the Caribbean Club, Birżebbuġa. Tickets are available by calling on 9905 4669. For more information, visit the Raging Waters Facebook event page.
